English Instructors
Happy English is seeking part-time experienced (at least 1 year) English teachers to teach adults one on one
at a cafe part-time on weekday evenings or weekends in central Tokyo or Chiba.
The fee for a 60 min. lesson is \3000, and will be paid directly from the student to the teacher after each lesson.

- Requirements
- Native level English
- College/University degree or higher
- Valid working visa
- More than 1 year of intended stay in Japan
- Over 1 year experience teaching English in Japan
- Expectations
- Teach in the best way to achieve the students’ goals and needs.
- To be punctual and manage lesson schedule appropriately.
- Prepare for lessons in advance.
- Treat staff and students with respect.
- Have a willingness to improve and are open to advice and constructive feedback.

Payment
Each instructor is paid on the same scale. Lessons are typically one hour long. Some students request that lessons are longer. The rate is \3,000 / hour. If a student requests a 90 minute lesson, you will receive \4,500.
Locations
Most lessons are given in a convenient location for both student and instructor, typically at a nearby cafe or restaurant. Some lessons are also taught at the student’s home especially for children.
Students
You will be introduced to male and female students of all ages, and levels. You do have the option of deciding whether you want to teach small children, or lessons that include TOEIC exam preparation.
Lessons
Lessons are based upon the student’s expectation and instructor’s style of teaching.
Materials
If textbooks or other lesson materials are needed for lessons, it is up to the instructor or student to provide them. If a student wants to be taught out of a textbook, they typically have their own. Happy English can provide you with textbook catalogues and other resources to help you and the student choose a book at an appropriate level.
Transportation
All transportation costs are the responsibility of the instructors.
Scheduling
Instructors are solely responsible for scheduling of lessons with students.
